Still Reeling

Unethical media + incompetent Philippine National Police= Total Chaos.

What should have been a peaceful negotiation turned into a crisis after live media coverage of the hostage taking provided access to the hostage taker where he witnessed the manhandling of his brother by their former colleagues, prompting all hell to break loose.

My dear po-pos, do you have any dirty laundry you didn't want to air out? Mendoza clearly had something to say about our beloved PNP. Why deny the media access? He was fine and dandy throughout the day, ordering food for the captives and requesting for more gas to prolong the AC. It was only after the PNP vehemently denied any of his requests that he decided to shoot like crazy.

Also, our dearest PNoy, where were you when all of this took place? I have an inkling GMA wouldn't have let this happened. Mendoza was clearly deranged, humor him, won't you? There were lives at stake. International lives, if I may add. Why didn't you send high ranking officials to handle this? Stroke his ego a little, listen to his rants. Clearly, ignoring him wasn't the brightest solution. When that man hostaged the bus-load of kids two years ago, GMA sent a senator and some high ranking officials to negotiate. Did anybody die? No. The point of a hostage is that these people want something in return for their efforts. If you keep denying that, then you lose your hostages.

Mendoza looked like a nice, confused man. But he was trying to right an injustice done to him with yet another injustice. I can only assume the pressure and stress of losing his job of thirty years with no alleged proper process plus getting stripped off his retirement benefits took a toll on this man.

Tell me, when are we going to realize that there is something wrong with our system? To push a man to kill a bus-load of people for the sake of retirement benefits and getting his job back says a lot about our country. Act up, PNoy. Stop yapping all the time.
